Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have today unveiled a special Māori jersey featuring Ellavation branding across the top back position usually occupied by Premier Partner Lottoland.

April 19, 2018 – The special jersey, commissioned by New Zealand South Island iwi (tribe) Ngāi Tahu and designed by leading Māori artist Fayne Robinson, will be worn by the Sea Eagles for their ‘home’ game against the New Zealand Warriors in Christchurch on Saturday 9 June.

“We are delighted to be donating our top back of jersey branding for this game to Ellavation,” said Lottoland Australia Marketing Director Mr Matthew Brinckley.

“As a supporter of both Ellavation and the Sea Eagles, Lottoland are pleased to be able to bring together these two very community focused organisations with this great initiative recognising both Australian and New Zealand Indigenous cultures,” added Mr Brinckley.

With a focus on lifting spirits and changing lives, Ellavation provides sustainable employment and career development opportunities for the Australian Indigenous community.

As a corporate partner, Lottoland is helping to provide ongoing career development opportunities to Ellavation Trainees.

Speaking at the unveiling of the special jersey in Christchurch this morning, Sea Eagles CEO Mr Lyall Gorman praised the initiative of Lottoland to incorporate Ellavation and the recognition of Indigenous Australia.

“The fantastic design of this special Māori jersey obviously focuses on our commitment to Christchurch and recognises the Indigenous culture of the region, whilst we also felt it was very important to also recognise Indigenous Australia and to show the great link we share between our neighbouring countries,” said Mr Gorman.

“Through the initiative of our Premier Partner Lottoland, we are able to feature Ellavation across the top back position and I know our players will be extremely proud to run out in these very special and meaningful jerseys come June against the Warriors here in Christchurch,” added Mr Gorman.

Lottoland Australia proposes profit sharing offer to Newsagents

By | Press Releases | No Comments

Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.

April 5, 2018 – Lottoland Australia today offered the 4,000 news and lottery agents across Australia a profit-sharing agreement which if accepted, will ensure wider choice for customers – and additional revenue for newsagents.

Under the offer, newsagents will receive 20 per cent of profits generated from every bet on overseas lotteries that they refer to Lottoland Australia, which could be worth thousands of additional dollars a month to individual newsagents.

The Chief Executive Officer of Lottoland Australia, Luke Brill, said the offer meant newsagents that took part in the program would have an opportunity to benefit financially from Lottoland bets on overseas lotteries.

In an open letter to newsagents published across national newspapers today, Mr Brill said:

“We want to partner with newsagents to provide our customers with greater choice, in a way that will be fair and profitable for your business.

“Last year, in discussions with the association that represents newsagents, we made an offer to share our revenue from secondary lottery betting with newsagents. That offer not only stands but I am prepared to improve it: We will offer newsagents a 20 per cent commission on the profits from every bet they refer to Lottoland.”

Mr Brill said a recent proposal by the Federal Government to effectively ban online lottery betting would not help newsagents, as it would manifest Tatts’ monopoly through its parent company, Tabcorp.

“Lottoland does not offer bets on Australian lotteries but only on overseas lotteries, which means we do not compete directly with newsagents,” he said.

“The challenging times faced by many newsagents relates in part to technology and in part to the way Tatts continues to push the digital sale of its products on their own website, taking revenue away from the newsagents.

“According to Tatts‘ own figures, their digital sales increased by a massive 30 per cent in the half year to December 31 – money Tatts has diverted away from newsagents and other small businesses.”

Mr Brill said the legislation proposed by the Government would cement Tatts‘ monopoly, which was bad news for newsagents – and for customers.

$100 million jackpot set to stop the nation

By | Press Releases | No Comments

Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.

Lottoland is giving Australians an exclusive opportunity to win $100 million this Melbourne Cup day.

1 November, 2017 – While Australia stops to watch the best racehorses in the country compete for $6 million in the Melbourne Cup, Lottoland is giving customers the chance to win a much bigger prize, betting on Oz Lotto.

After ‘the race that stops the nation’ comes, ‘The Jackpot that Stops the Nation’.

The special jackpot, offered exclusively by online bookmaker Lottoland, sits at a whopping $100 million, the highest in Australia since 2012.

Mr Brill, Lottoland CEO, said the underlying lottery hasn’t been this big since 2012, but we did offer the exact same Special Jackpot in September with one Lottoland customer coming within one number of winning a major pay day.

“The $100 million jackpot is more than 3 times the size of the current Oz Lotto jackpot which currently sits at $30 million so why play for $30 million when you can bet to win $100 million with Lottoland?” Mr Brill said.

“Our innovative business model gives Australians more choice, bigger jackpots and faster payouts than ever before. This jackpot is just another reason why Australians continue to flock to Lottoland,” continued Mr Brill.

The official draw takes place on Tuesday, 7th November, at approximately 9:30pm AEDT. Results are based on the official Oz Lotto draw, with Lottoland.com.au the only provider of the $100 million prize.

Australian residents aged 18+ (excluding South Australian residents) can bet on this lottery. The only requirement is that you have a Lottoland account.

The jackpot is the third highest ever seen in Australia and if there were to be a single winner, it would become the biggest ever single jackpot win in Australian history.

Lottoland granted a full insurance licence

By | Press Releases | No Comments

Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.

Gibraltar, 25th September 2017Online lotto betting operator Lottoland have today announced that they have been granted an insurance licence by the Financial Services Commission (“FSC”) in Gibraltar in accordance with EU insurance legislation. This newly established insurance company Fortuna Insurance PCC Limited (“Fortuna Insurance”), is a subsidiary of Lottoland Holdings Limited.

Lottoland is the first and only company in the gaming sector to have established its own insurance company – holding itself up to the highest standard with regards to industry best practice and transparency.

Fortuna Insurance will underwrite all the bookmaking risks of Lottoland and will be regulated by the FSC in Gibraltar and the European Insurance and Occupational Pension Authority (“EIOPA”), which will both ensure that Fortuna Insurance will be compliant with the European Solvency II regime. The newly established insurance company will have a board and management team consisting of five experts, who will provide in depth insurance and reinsurance, financial markets, regulatory as well as gaming know-how to the company.

This is a historic milestone for Lottoland – transforming it’s industry leading risk management into its own fully authorised and licensed insurance company. Lottoland’s (re)insurance structure, which combines both risk carrying markets (i) insurance linked securities (“ILS”) and (ii) traditional (re)insurance), consists of the highest coverage in the market for the underlying gaming business (namely, lotto betting). The underlying gaming risk is highly modelled giving an extremely detailed degree of predictability and security to risk carriers as well as Lottoland and its customers. Fortuna Insurance has top ILS investors and rated reinsurers as its counterparts further adding to the robustness of its insurance. It is this structure that gives Lottoland flexibility to innovate driving higher value and jackpots for its customers and investors while always ensuring they can pay-out on all prizes in a timely manner.

Last month, Lottoland announced a second two year ILS transaction, which will now be transferred to sit under Fortuna Insurance. This transaction is fully collateralized through cash trust accounts and letters of credit, and is the largest ever reinsurance deal in the Gambling sector. All previous investors have shown their confidence in Lottoland by participating in the new transaction, and a handful of new investors also come on-board.

Lottoland’s risk management structure has already proven its reliability, covering several major wins. The largest win paid out by Lottoland so far was €22 million and was won by a player from Berlin in 2016. So far, Lottoland players have won over €900 million across its business portfolio. Fortuna Insurance, provides Lottoland with even more flexibility to innovate and offer new games to players.

Other operators can also benefit from Lottoland’s proven lottery insurance solution thanks to Lottoland’s B2B arm Lottoland Solutions. Lottoland Solutions guarantees pay outs on all winnings now through Fortuna Insurance and offers a lottery betting interface that is easy to integrate into existing websites. Customers of William Hill Australia, Kindred Group plc and Gaming Innovation Group plc, are already benefitting from a partnership with Lottoland Solutions.

Lottoland CEO, Nigel Birrell, said, “The fact that Lottoland is the first and only company in the gaming sector to have done this, highlights our commitment to industry best practice and transparency. This is huge step forward not just for Lottoland but also for the gaming industry.”

World-first model to give newsagents a slice of online betting pie

Lottoland wants to work with newsagents, not against them

19 October, 2017 – Lottoland Australia has today proposed a world-first partnership model with newsagents, offering a cut of online punts so they can benefit from the company’s 600,000 customer base clocked up just 18 months after it opened its doors.

For newsagents that opt in to the proposed model, should they be nominated by one of their customers, they will take a 10 per cent cut of every bet that customer goes on to make with Lottoland.

When registering with Lottoland, punters will be asked to select their local newsagent. The chosen newsagent will then receive 10 per cent of all future online bets made by that punter. For all existing 600,000 customers, they will also have the opportunity to nominate their newsagent of choice.

In return for their cut, newsagents will be asked to advertise Lottoland in store via promotional materials, such as posters and flags. Advertising in-store will be limited to bets on international lotteries, a market currently inaccessible for newsagents. No newsagent will be asked to promote bets on lotteries that they sell tickets for in-store.

Luke Brill, Lottoland CEO, acknowledged newsagents are an important part of Australian communities and they too should benefit from the shift to online betting.

“Lottoland has listened to Australian newsagents and this model is recognition that we need to work together. Newsagents will always have a longstanding cultural link to lotteries, but as it stands there is no infrastructure for them to take advantage of overseas lotteries and online betting. This needs to change. ”

“Every bet on an overseas lottery is incremental revenue, part of which can now flow fairly to newsagents. This model complements in-store lottery purchases and opens a channel for these businesses to benefit from the emerging pool of ‘online only’ punters.”

“The shift to online betting is a reality. While companies like Tatts are busy using newsagents as pawns in a campaign to maintain their monopoly, we are proposing a model that puts cash back into small businesses.”

Last week, Lottoland called on all states and territories to introduce a point of consumption tax so the company could contribute nation-wide.

“We must be the only business in Australia asking governments to tax us but we’re doing this so we can help fund much needed community projects. We’re willing to pay, we just need the tax infrastructure that makes this possible.”

“Meetings with all levels of government have been promising and have helped Lottoland overcome the misinformation spread by Tatts’ $5 million dollar smear campaign.”

Mr Brill said he met with Australian Lottery and Newsagents Association Chief Executive Adam Joy on Monday to float the deal, and looked forward to working closely with newsagents to hear their feedback and get the model up and running.

US Power frenzy set to explode at Lottoland as jackpot could reach one billion this sunday

By | Press Releases | No Comments

Due to legislation coming into effect in 2019, we can no longer offer lottery betting and as such some content may no longer be relevant.

22nd August 2017

Lottoland servers were working overtime last Sunday (20/8/17) as over one hundred thousand Australians bet on the $600 AUD million US Power draw.

The draw rolled over and the five hundred thousand registered players of Lottoland Australia are now chasing a mammoth $820 million AUD this Thursday at 12:00pm AEST .

If the Jackpot rolls over once again it has the potential to reach over $1 billion AUD on Sunday 27th August and become the second biggest draw of all time.

The US is in a lottery frenzy with massive queues at lottery kiosks right across the US, as well as Canadians rushing across the border all securing their tickets. Australians now know they can simply go to Lottoland.com.au and bet on this historic draw.

Amid this expected frenzy, CEO of Lottoland Australia Luke Brill commented:

“On Sunday traffic levels on the website soared to heights not seen since the online stampede of the record $2.3 billion AUD US Powerball draw in January 2016, which famously caused the Lottoland site to crash on its first week of trading.”

The crash came as Lottoland first opened its doors and gave Australians their first taste of betting on overseas lotteries which caused unprecedented volumes of online traffic and disruption to the lottery landscape in Australia.

Brill added “In bookmaking terms, this US Power draw is our Melbourne Cup and we are confident that our improved website can now handle the expected traffic. We have learned our lessons from last time and made improvements accordingly. We are confident that we can now handle this volume and ensure Australians can dream bigger and bet on this historic draw.”
